Boot off a DVD

I've got a Toshiba Tecra 9100 and I want to boot off a DVD but it will only allow me to boot off CD's. Does anyone know a way in which I can boot off a DVD with it? Such as a CD that you can boot off and then allow you to load off a DVD.

Normally I would have agreed with you but I have tested it on several bootable DVD's which work on other computers but none of them seem to work, but I can boot off CD's and CDRW's with no problems
 
Try popping in a different drive into thecomputer. I just ran into a weird problem where a drive would boot a windows disk but not Linux. :P
 
nope, I've tried other bootable dvd's that work on other computers but don't seem to work on the laptop in question
