Boot priority problems

Hi all,

I just recently received an SSD from a friend, and I have Windows 7 installed to it and it works just fine. I formatted my old 500gb Barracuda and I will be using that as a drive for games, useless stuff, etc.

My problem is that when I plug in the Barracuda HDD, that goes to the #1 boot option in the bios and my SSD does not show up when the Barracuda is plugged in. What is my problem? I am a noob when it comes to this stuff, sorry!

Thanks in advance!

You've looked in the bios and seen that the ssd and hdd are there as boot options? And the hdd is 1st priority? Disable the hdd form the priority list. Make ssd-1 and od-2.

Try selecting to boot from the ssd in the bios under boot devices, that's how I did it for my system anyway. These days though i'd rather have less drives installed in the computer, and run the extras off of external usb. Makes for less heat, and cables to manage. :)

I'm a noob when it comes to using two drives, but when u first installed windows on the ssd was your other drive connected as well? if so, it is best to disconnect the second one to avoid any confliction and then once windows 7 is installed, u can then connect the second one...

also, when using two drives shouldn't something else be done via disk mngmnt? (if the second drive isn't appearing under computer?

I just got done seeing some newegg videos the other day and I recall on vid 3 (building your own pc) something was done... u could also google that as see what I am talking about as it's close to the end of the video :good:
