Boot Problem

My video cards finally arrived.

My computer turned on and booted up (without picture) before i had the GPUs installed (2x radeon 5870).

I installed them (and have installed them before without trouble) and now when i power the computer on, there is no boot.

Any ideas?

Edit: Have checked and rechecked all Power supply connectors, they seem to be firmly connected.
 
well, have you pulled the cards out and tried to boot it? That would tell us a lot. ;)

Could be that the cards are fux0r3d. Or could be that you've knocked something lose while you were fooling around in there...

Try to boot w/out the cards and let us know.

Without the cards it boots...

What did you do to fix it? I'll bet the card wasn't properly seated.


However, when i boot now it says cpu fan error..

Is it spinning? Is it plugged in? Try disconnecting the fan and pulling it out and give it a good cleaning. And see what happens. Have you ever got that error before?

Don't run the computer very long w/out that fan working - don't want to burn up the processor.

On an ASUS board you do need to manually select the boot drive and disable the jmicron in the bios. Also, dont use the grey SATA port (jmicron).

If your CPU fan is spinning and it is stock make sure the clips are firmly pushed in. Also, turn the knobs that hold the CPU fan in the opposite dirrection of the arrows. Turning the knobs the dir of the arrows actually unlocks the CPU fan. The CPU will click twice on each of the 4 legs, once to clip then once to lock. You also left the grey stuff on the bottom of the fan where the copper is?

If you are sure the fan is seated and spinning is yor CPU wire plugged into the CPU port on the MOBO or the SYS FAN or PWR FAN?

I thought you were buying a 5970? Did you give up on the wait?

One thing I like about Gigabyte is on the first boot it will detect the drives properly and tell you when to load the OS, ASUS will not pn the 2 builds I used their MOBO's. I still like them though.

Yeah, CPU fan is on and spinning. Its connected to the power.

My bet is that its the clip on things like gabe said..

yeah i gave up on waiting for the 5970 and got two 5870s in crossfire, too long of a wait for me.

I'm writing this post on the new comp!

So if you come back here how does the 5870 cf work? Have you played and what are your post build thoughts?
 
well if the fan is spinning your fine. even if it says it isnt running, just keep an eye on it and make sure it keeps spinnnin
 
Your video card does not supported to your computer system.so, first of all you can boot without connect video card and then boot process is working, so there is problem with in your video card so you can check your video card.
 
card put it again insert gently

card put it again insert gently than restart your computer and make sure the driver you are install is right.
