Boot problem

Hi guys have just installed a western digital G hard drive on my Compaq Pissaro, OS is xp pro which has been running fine until other day now on boot up on blue welcome flash there s a beep and boot up stops though you can still move the mouse i then press reset button reboots this time auto disc checks then beeps again this time saying password due to expire would i like to change/reset it click no desktop up and running any idea s how to resolve this.

I'm not sure exactly what you're problem is... Do you have an external hard drive that is being weird. Please rephrase...

no it s an internal one, when i switch the PC on and it boot s up when it gets to the blue xp welcome screen there is a beep from the pc case and boot dose not continue it just hangs not freezes because you can still move the cursor i then have to press the reset button it reboots except this time it continues past the blue xp welcome screen carriers out a disc check then beeps again and up pops a box saying your password will expire in so many days do you wish to change it i click no and my desktop comes on.so my two problems are 1,why is it hanging at the xp welcome screen and 2, why the box about password changes when i don t have password account enabled
