Boot Problem

Ok I just upgraded my PC...motherboard, RAM, processor and power supply. So basically everything is new except my hard drive. I want to re-format my old hard drive and start out fresh. Well when I boot up my newly built computer the motherboard company screen comes on and says "Press F1 to continue, or Press Delete to enter Setup." Well I went into my setup and everything seemed to be running ok and I changed the "boot priority" to my CD-ROM drive so the Windows XP (Home Edition SP2) could install. Well after a couple of screens eventually a screen comes up saying "Verifying DMI Pool Data" Then as the CD-ROM is running the CD a message comes up saying:

NVIDIA Boot Agent 242.0536
E-E61 : Media Test Failure, check cable
E-MOF : Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent
Disk Boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter

When the error message comes up the CD-ROM stops running. I called Microsoft and they couldn't help me because they said its probably something wrong with my computer and not the Windows product. Any advice people???

it sounds like your pc is still trying to boot from the hdd which will give errors because the operating system on the hdd is from a diffrent mobo, what i would do is set first second and third boot device to cdrom dont forget to save and exit then try , just remember when windows is finished installing to put the boot order back to the proper settings.

I had this same error once and I fixed it by switching IDE cables and changing the BIOS to boot off CD first. Try Googleing it, there are long lists of ways to fix it that I have found. Hope this helps.
