boot up issue

This morning, I tried to get on my comp for a second but it froze on the "welcome" screen. I couldn't fix it then because I had to go. Before I go home, does anybody know of a fix to this? I could get onto the Admin account in safe mode. If this is just something on the startup list, I can easily fix it. Any ideas?

Did you recently install new hardware software? Or change nay settings for usernames/accounts?

I took out an internal floppy drive but it boot up just fine afterwards. After shutting down last night, I just went to sleep so nothing has been done since then. I don't think I installed anything but I'll look in my startup folder. Since this effect multiple accounts, the startups will be set for all users and will be able to be modified through safe mode. I'll post back when I get home and see what made it happen.

run -> msconfig and then startup and there u will see the no of applications and software that r loaded when u boot the xp.
Thats only relevent when he/ she has actually managed to log on. The welcome screen freezes so he/ she can't log on. Its most likely something to do with account settings. On the more extreme side, it could be a virus, so I would run an anti-virus program; just in case.
