boot up problem with my asus (recovery issue?)

Ok, I have been running wndows 7 fine for sometime now. I used to use vista until i upgraded. I have been doing an IT internship and just learned about the diagnostic memory test feature that you can use. I wanted to do that on my system just for the fun of it because i was having alittle issue with my system and wanted to see if it had anything to do with the memory (which it probably didn't). I pressed f9 on my system, got to the boot up menu, and read it a little too quickly (i guess that's what i get for drinking too much last night). I read "specify an advance option for this choice, press f8" thinking it would move my cursor down to "windows memory diagonostic" under tools. I was stupid and didn't read "press TAB to select a tool". So, I hit "specify an advance option for this choice" and unintentionally went to "windows setup [ems enabled]".

Now, whenever i start my computer it says "windows loading files", shows that vista loading screen and goes to this asus recovery thing (which is what the "windows setup" is). So, i just hit cancel but the computer then just restarts and goes back to the same thing.

How do I just start windows normally, back to my windows 7.

Did i lose all my files!? :O How can i save them?! remove the hard drive?

I think I'm supposed to put my windows 7 installation disc back in and hit repair but how do I do that? i can't load windows normally.

Why don't you press and hold f8 again? It ought to come up with a screen. And you don't need the installation media any more, because it's all on the harddisk.

i actually found a solution. I pressed next and then pressed cancel rather than just pressing cancel. I don't know why it worked differently but o well, my os came back up so im happy. Thanks anyway.

Good for you. The best way to learn is through trial and error; experimentation and failure.
That's how I learned everything I know.
