I switched my case and it hassnt been a good experience for me. After plugging in all the components I tried to boot it up and it came to the welcome screen and then boxes started showing up saying certain files were corrupt and to the the chkdsk utility. my screen kept on flashing and it wouldnt get any further after about 5 min. I couldnt do anything so I was forced to hit the power. what should I do?

Put the hard drive into another computer... and see what happens... it may be the file root system is up the creek... mine did that once...

or the hard drive could be corrupted so a OS and hard drive format would be in order.... :)

:D

Well im trying to boot up in safe mode and run the checkdisk. I'll see how that goes. then i'll go with what you said. hopefully i dont though.

I presume this is a new build
i would firstly double check all component seatings, all cables, and all power connections
and ensure my psu is up to the job failing that being the prob
i think whats happened is either the hard drive didnt copy all the data given to it
so its a bad one
or the install disc is missing some drivers
again is a bad one
but prob h/d

Heres what happened. I built the CP about 5 months ago in another case. It worked perfectly. No problems. Then I bought a new case. I now have gotten it to boot up but alot of files are corrupted and its just not running right. I tried to run the Check Disk but all it does is ask me to check at the next start up. This is as far as I got. I think I may be able to get it going since I now have it booting up. Who knows.

idk can I?lol. Im new to building my own computers. First time dealing with all this is when i bought everything. this was my first time installing a O/S. Should I boot from disk and see if I can run a repair?

now i tried to boot from cd only to find that its not recognizing that I have the drive plugged in. what could be the problem with this?

Unplug the drive then re-attach it see if that works. when booting up go into bios and see if your drive shows, if it dont then go into each one that says none and do a auto search if found, the first boot device should read cd press f10 and see if you can do a repair m8
also wot o.s you using?

Ok i got it to recognize the CD Drive. So I out my vista CD in and booted from the CD. When i get to the screen to repair it you have to choose what you want to repair. But nothing shows up in my box. its just blank. does anybody know whats going on here?

Ok since nothing shows up in the box it says to click Load Drivers. When i press this another screen comes up and says insert the installation media for the device and Click OK to select the driver.

What does this mean?
