My Windows 8.1 (8GB Ram) Desktop Hangs on Boot Up at
“Dual Channel Memory Mode”
And will proceed no further!
The mother Board is:-
ASRock AliveSata2-Glan

I have tried each of the four Ram cards alone and have substituted
the power supply without any success.

Can anybody provide any advise as to where next

Disconnect power and data cables to hdd and cdrom drives and see if it continues to boot and allow you access to the bios. This usually means bad hardware.

Do you have any other devices that are plugged in? Printers? External drives? Try unplugging mouse and keyboard too. I know you won't be able to do anything but you can see what it does. If everything else is unplugged, you can try resetting the cmos. Sometimes there is a jumper on the motherboard to do it or you can do this procedure.

Remove power cord from power supply, remove the cmos battery from motherboard, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then wait a few minutes. Then reinsert battery, reconnect power and try booting up.

Also, might want to remove and reinsert the memory.

Using the motherboard jumper I rest the cmos, which allowed the boot to continue.
It then informed me that the cmos checksum was in error and gave me the option to reset to default settings (F1), which I did. The boot continued to a full operating Windows 8.1.
Unfortunately this appears to be only a one time solution. The next attempted boot resulted in the original hung problem. This senario is repeatable. Yes I have replaced the cmos battery! Confused!

Really sounds like you have an issue with some hardware attached to the system. Any new hardware installed lately?

Are you running the latest bios version 2.6?

Progress!
having removed the two USB2 Header (USB6_7 & USB4_5) connections (neither of which had anything plugged in) from the motherboard everything is behaving normally!
Next step isolating which one/or both is causing the problem.
I am using an old Bios version never having updated it.

Sorted! Found the offending USB 2 Header causing the problem.
Since it is not in use it will not be missed!

System is now fully AOK!
Thank you for your time and effort

Good to hear. There is most likely a short in the cable, connector or in the actual usb port its attached to. Wouldn't matter if anything wasn't plugged into it or not.
