bootup problems

I got me a MSI PT880 Neo FSR motherboard, a while back. Well the motherboard works fine I think, the only problem I have now is that I can't boot up my computer anymore. To boot up the Computer I have to put in the WINXP Cd and make the Computer boot up from the cd. Without the Cd the computer gets stuck in the middle of the boot process, in fact it never gets to the Xp boot up screen it just stops right before it comes up. Does any one know why this could be, I am clueless.

well i suggest reinstalling windows, or something could be wrong with the stuff on ur mobo, check if you have put evrything alright.

well, I have reformated my hard drvie twice since then, and I have checked my mobo cables like three times so that can not be it. I was thinking, could it have something to do with that I changed the motherboard in a dell computer and that I am trying to use the xp cd that came with the dell computer.

That could definately be the case with an OEM disk...it was specifically designed for use with the dell specifications...try getting a hold of an original xp cd and go from there...by the sounds of it, it is looking for a piece of hardware that it cannot find
