i borrowed HL2 from a friend and steam wont let me install it becuz of his registration code being used...how do i get around this , or is that illegal?

With Steam you can only reg a cdkey to one account.

Only way you will be able to play it is if he gives you his login info.

it's illegal:P

The easiest way would be to have your friend let you use his steam account for a little while, then he can just change his password later.

If he is not online, you can login and borrow his account... Ask him if you can download it overnight (when he isnt playing), give it a try the next day. If you like it, buy it. Think of it as a free trial.

Yeah I would just go buy it because you and your friend will be fighting over his account because both of you will want to play. Just go out and buy it. It is worth your money.

Ummm... sorry to ruin your party but i thought HL2 was rather bad... sure the graphics are good, but thats about it. Gameplay is very repetetive, kill the same 3 or 4 guys the whole game, long boring vehicle runs, and that crappy ending... *shudder* thank god it came with CSS so i didnt completely waste my $50.

I personally don't like HL2. I bought it for $20 just because it came with CS:S but even then I hardly play CS. I just finished uninstalling CS, HL2 and Steam and my free RAM went from 633 to 735...Curse that RAM stealer!

simple solution - dont have steam start on statup, just start it when you wanna play, lol. Nothing uses RAM if it isnt runing...

Anyway, yeh, HL2 is one of the few games out there today that im proud to have actually bought and paid for, its awesome, and the makers actually deserve the money. Even if it is their ONLY decent title Valve did a good job.

oh and just to add - even if it was legal, there is NO way to get around steam, its one of the most efficient and secure systems ive ever seen, no pirating of games gonna happen there is it....

is it one copy of a game per person? or one copy per computer?
Its suppose to be anyone who wants to play a game, has to have their own copy. But in reality, its one game per steam account.
