Bottlenecked HDD?

I constantly open and run many programs at once. For example, just today I did the following:

DL'ing from newsgroups
Unraring or Quickparing (I can't remeber which) a 1.5 gig file
Uninstalled a few things
Moved folders

Now, I did all of this while having some monitoring software open and on average only used 8% & 10% of my X2 and ~490 MB of ram. It took a while and got to the point where I had to stop DL'ing so that my uninstall would actually get something done.

Is this a tell tale sign of a bottleneck in my HDD?

If so, would a RAID configuration help me out with this? I've read that RAID doesn't always make certain aspects of computing faster.

Thanks for the advice.

I do think your hard drive performance is the limiting factor, and under certain situations a Raid0 setup would help. There's never much performance increase in random access and games, but over sustained sequential reading it does show a benefit, so I would say you would see some improvement.

LOL, I'm sorry. I read that a couple of times and each time I read it as "I don't think..."

Thanks for your input.
