Hey all, I have always wanted a Intel 486 PC, and I just so happened to find one on eBay. This is truly a hidden gem, I spent $24 on it, and $3 on a memory upgrade, and this is the spec.

Intel 486 Processor @ 25MHz
4MB of RAM (Upgrading to an OUTSTANDING 12MB) :D:D
199MB of HDD
Windows 95 (May downgrade to 3.11)
PCMCIA Ethernet
10" Screen @ 640x480

What a deal, now I can see what PCs were like when I was born! I am dead excited for it, I will try to see if Computer Forums work on 25MHz :D

Haha, I used to have a laptop with almost identical specs. I actually had a DX4/75MHz loaded with Windows 98 running on Wifi a while back too. I kind of wish I still had one of those laptops... :P

It's good for word processing, that is about it - however, you'll have something on your hands that just won't die and quit - especially if it's an IBM Thinkpad.
I gave a Thinkpad 750c (circa 1993-95) that was sitting in a box to my 6yr old nephew and it's still running strong. I just wish that new Core 2's and Turion 64s would image the durability of the old 486es and Pentiums.

Indeed, its actually a Compaq, and not a thinkpad, what I will do with it, is get an Ethernet adapter and use it once every Preston guild to go onto MSN etc.

windows 95 on 12mb? if you get 16mb you could put NT 3.51 on it, but i dunno if a 200mb disk would fit it.

windows 3.11 would work fine though.
