Bought a new router, questions on speed!?

So I decided to buy a new router today since I wanted to get an N one as my old Linksys-G was getting ready to die after many years.

I got a D-Link DIR-825.

Everything was super easy to setup, its a great unit. Also, a sweet extra on this router is the ability to plug in a usb hard drive, printer, or other device and share amongst all of us here!! awesomeness

however, I'm just wondering about the enhanced speeds I am getting.

Wired was 100.0 Mbps ---> Now it's 1.0Gbps (Which is SIKK in my opinion)

and Wireless was 54.0 Mbps ---> Now it's 130.0 Mbps (Which is a nice boost but I saw people getting more, like 300.0Mbps and even as high as 600.0 Mbps.

Are my upgraded speeds normal? Should wifi be able to go higher?

Any insight is appreciated..not that I'm unhappy, in fact, I'm quite impressed and so far satisfied but obviously if I can go higher--I'd like to.

Yes, N is going to have a higher speed than G (at least the potential for them). However, you do have to have a N card on your computer/device in order to take advantage of the extra speed. As for the wired speed, the unit has Gigabit LAN, as compared to your old unit that had the more common 100Mb/s. Like the wireless though, you have to have a Gigabit LAN card on the computer/device in order to take advantage of the extra speed.

Although, all of that is still dependent on what speed connection you have with your ISP.
