I just recently bought a Compaq Evo n660c laptop from e-bay and it does not come with any of the cd's or books with it. The manuels can be found online, but I was wondering if there is anyway I can create a cd in case my computer ends up crashing and I need to totally restore it... and what do I need to do to do that? I'm a little new to laptops, so any help would be appreciated!! Also, I'd like to add more memory to it, and I heard that it can be easy to do...but I've never done it for a laptop before...would you suggest getting someone else to install memory, I don't want to ruin me computer. Thanks for the help!!

You mean you want to have an OS CD for recovery? You'll have to buy one. If you just want a backup CD for all your important files, oyu can simply get all the drivers your laptop uses, and all your documents, and burn them to a CD/DVD and store it away.

Installing RAM is very easy on laptops. You simply open the back port, slide in the RAM and you are done. It's about as easy as putting legos together. Buying the right RAM for the right price is more of a challenge than installing it. Make sure you get the right kind.

Well you can use a tool to backup an entire image of your HD. You can use something like "Acronis True Image", so if you've got a setup that you really like, you can back it up completely to a second partition or CD/DVD.

Since you bought it from ebay.. try to contact him about it. did he/she list that they did NOT come with it.. listed that they will come with it.. etc.. or didn't list it at all..

You pretty much have to buy an OS disk if something happens and you choose to format.

I have never tried the suggestion by LaptopExtreme, but it sounds like it'll work. So give it a shot.
