So i finally jumped the gun and ordered a SSD from newegg, specifically the OCZ Agility 60GB SSD.

For $160 on newegg (i'm not expecting to get the MIR back). Can't wait to install Win7 on it and see how it performs!

I'll definitely post up some benchmarks and real word speeds. I'm done with finals thursday so it'll be a nice weekend project.

Best single upgrade you can do. Literally cut my boot time in half - Virus scans by two thirds. Only downside is that computers with regular drives will now make you irritated and annoyed.

Okay so I installed it the other day and got a fresh installation of windows 7 on it. All my music, videos and user files are on my 400GB "storage" drive. The OS, photoshop and some other commonly used programs are on my "OS" drive. Currently I still have 40GB left.

Hard drive score went from 5.9 to 7.1.

the test speaks for itself. The SSD completely destroyed my storage 400GB drive.

There wasn't a large difference in startup speed as I heavily tweaked my startup options on my old hard drive. However, once I log in the computer is MUCH more responsive. Everything opens up almost instantaneously. This drive also didn't take much tweaking, everything came ready to go! I would highly recommend this drive for anyone who wants a faster, snappier system!

Jesus Christ, that's fast. I really want one now.

Damn...

You've got all of us wanting an SSD now!

It's not like it's just a slight improvement, those benchmarks are huge!

I love SSDs because you can get the performance you desire for around 150$, just put the OS, some programs, and some games on the drive and it's better than multiple-hundred dollar upgrades.

Surprised you went with the agility, when the vertex is pretty much identical and cheaper. OCZ drives are the way to go for ssd's though:good:

Nice upgrade,Ive been considering getting one myself but i need to sell a few stuff before i can buy one.

Im either going to go with the Intel X-25 80Gb or one of the 60Gb OCZ drives.

I got the exact same drive and installed everything yesterday - it smokes! Split the drive for the OS and Software, and keeping all my personal files on a platter drive. Boot time from POST to usable Win7 desktop is about 20-25 seconds, everything I open is there within an eye blink.

With an i3 530, EVGA P55 SLI, 4 GB OCZ DDR3, and a GTS250, my Win7 scores are 6.9, 5.9, 6.9, 6.9, 7.3, zero tweaking of any hardware component.

Ha dang, the first time I read that, I though you meant it literally smoked, like caught on fire. But dang, it takes me a minute and a half to boot Windows xp

Yeah my system takes about 23 seconds to boot up from post. Though it takes 22 seconds to actually get to the windows 7 loading screen.
