brand new heatsink fan not turning on

i got a amd fx 4350 cpu and a fan came with it just like all processors do i installed it with the cpu and i plugged it in and i still couldn't get it i dont know what the problem is my computer turns on and everything its just the fan wont turn on my cpu keeps over heating and my computer wont start up without it so does anyone have any advise

You said you plugged it it, to the CPU cooler header on your motherboard? Try connecting it to a "normal" fan header and see what happens.. Otherwise I'd RMA everything and just say the cooler was defective... Overheating the CPU may have caused damage :P
 
RMA'ing the whole chip isn't worth it for just a cooler in my opinion. Just get a replacement air cooler for like 20 bucks.

Try plugging it in to a regular fan header and/or try a regular fan in the CPU Fan header and see what happens.
 
Doubt it will be the fan, even with no fan it will get hot after a while and then possibly overheat, not straight away. If it's cutting out straight away there must be a problem elsewhere.

Plug it into the cpu fan header.
 
Please for the love of god just take it to a repair shop so they can complete the build for you.
 
Not necessarily. I've had a bad fan like this out of the box. Sometimes they're just faulty.
