Bridging Network Connections

Say you have an XBox in your basement, the wireless router is on the first/second floor, and you wanted to use your XBox online without having a cable go downstairs. What you can do is get a laptop, bridge the wireless and wired connection. So then you can plug your XBox into your laptop and the computer will be acting as a bridge to convert the wireless signal into wired.

Thats just one example where I bridged two connections together.

You can bridge them by device or in the OS. If you are running a machine with multiple nics you can act as a bridge between two subnets.

What is your specific question?

If I bridge 2 networks (let's say a wired and a wireless), will my download speed be faster?

My sister who lives next door has a wireless network. Can I bridge my wired network and her wireless network to have faster download times?

I have two virtual connections bridged in a virtual machine. It's awesome. It makes my 100mb line into a 1gb line. LOL
