Brightness in my game?

ok i'am planning to play star trek:deep space ninth but the problem with me is that i never keep my monitor at a high brightness level , it disturbs me a lot so whenever i play "dark" games like these i simply increase the built in brightness bar or through my intel extreme graphics controller thing .. but the built in brightness bar is kinda short for me to see the graphics clearly and intel extreme controller thing has no effect in the game. Any other ways to increase the brightness of the game ( besides messing with monitor brightness buttons ) ?

The only other off hand would be the adjustments made in the game's video settings menu. There are often gamma bars for lightening or darkening there.

There's usally a few brightness options in the display proporties. Be sure you're actually turning up the brightness for everything and not just the video overlay. Otherwise, I'm not sure if there's anything else you could do... Heh, maybe get a decent video card that has bightness control in the drivers :P

my controller does have a brightness adjustment bar , as i mentioned above .. and a video overlay option in a later version of the driver currently installed on my pc .. i can update to that if required .. anywayz i tried adjusting overlay and everything but still the game is dark .. and the built in brightness adjustment bar of the game as i told you is not enough to get enough brightness even when at full ...

I may be a new member, but I actually think I can help ya with this one. If your monitor is a CRT, then you could take the cover off, (if you do this, look up on it first and becareful, there's lots of ways to get shocked back there) and there is three adjustment knobs that you will need to use a plastic, or metal with platic coating tool to turn, (I forget this part) either the top one or the middle one is vertical sync, the other is horizontal (if you wanted to you could play around to figure it out yourself, but otherwise you don't need to worry about the first two knobs) The bottom one, is a brightness, you can set it anywhere from pitch black to pure white, so just set it to your liking and see how that is.(By the By, DON'T TOUCH THE THINGS THAT LOOK LIKE RINGS AROUND THE TUBE, THESE ARE FACTORY SET AND ARE DIFFICULT TO RESET!!). The things you are looking for are little black things, 3 in a line that look like they need a smal screwdriver to be adjusted, usually towards the back on the side.

i know what you can do, in the vidio settings turn shadows off. the shadows in games like doom 3 affect the overall game brightness

monitor is a CRT
usually these are behind the speakers, but mainly on the side

what are you guyz exactly talking about? :p .. i have all the buttons in front of me .. i just don't want to mess with the brightness setup everytime i play the game .. coz i dont have a habit to work on my pc with a high brightness .. i really hate it .. so i just wanted a way to adjust my brightness within the operating system , WHICH also effect the STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINTH game ... ( i use my extreme graphics controller to increase brightness temporary for a game if the built in brightness/gamma bar of the game is not enough for me but whenever i increase the brightness and play this game the brightness disappears in the game so that extreme graphics controller is not affective inside the game )
