Bring the price down.

I want to bring the price of my build down but I dont know what to scrap first. I also still need an optical drive that does blue ray. (I dont own any blue ray discs but have seen it before and it looks sweet, however I dont know how "future(sp?) proof" blue ray is) Lets start with the mobo and go from there. Also I already dropped the ram from two 6gb dominator kits but I guess there is room there to. Comeing from a Celeron D pre-built machine with 1GB of ram. Primary use is web surfing, netflix and movies, and games. I have never played crisis but would like to. I only play FPS games like CS and racing games.

Do you really need those 6GB RAM >?<
Cuz I think 4GB RAM is more than enough even for today's newest games
And for the case, wouldn't an Antec Three Hundred is enough for your purpose >?<
I liked the looks of Twelve Hundred but it costs you a lot
The Graphic Card
Well Ive never heard of your choice of motherboard before so, no comment on it:) But I do know that's an awful lot money for motherboard:rolleyes:

The Antec 1200 is a full tower case. Sure it'd be enough for his purposes, but if he has that much money already, why not?

EVGA's one of the best manufacturers of Nvidia cards, but I've never bought a EVGA mobo, but I'm sure it'll be just as good :D

He kinda "needs" the 6GB RAM to set up triple channel (3x2GB).

Hha thanx for the correction and information, really appreciate it:)
Oops, sorry Im a bit of AMD fan and I forgot the i7 are using triple channel...
Well, he wanted to bring that price down so wouldn't degrading the case do the job >?<
And his choice of graphic card was <I think> a bit too high for those games considering the price he has to pay for it

Yeah, I'm more into AMD, but when it actually comes to high-end procs, I switch over to Intel :P

Of course the 900 would help bring the price down a bit, but with a full tower case, you have more room for cooling and probably more places to put additional fans. It also helps out a lot of you decide to watercool later on :D

About his GPU, it's a bit overkill with what he's doing, but it wouldn't hurt, as he said he's trying to future-proof it, and this is one machine that's going to last quite a few years, even then, all he'd have to do is upgrade to keep up with technology.

If you want to be future proof, I suggest you choose the new Graphic Cards with DirectX11 as an example HD5xxx series.
Nvidia haven't released any DirectX11 cards, have they >?<
