Broken Brightness Button

I have a friend whos brightness up button broke so its stuck at the darkest setting. Anyone know of any way to get around this or a program that will let you? Thanks.

umm as far as i know, there is no way that u can fix it with software, try fixing the button??

Brightness on what? a laptop? PDA? they usually have a software function in the first place.
