Broken LCD?

Its an AOC LM721 LCD Monitor, 17" I think.
Basically, I believe I put too much stress on it alt+tabbing a lot in and out of full screen programs, and setting a screensaver to go off every 5 minutes, and I would move the mouse as soon as the screen saver comes on anyway while watching TV or something.

The problem now is it turns on for about 3 seconds making a faint whirring noise towards the top of the monitor, and the screen goes blank after that.
The power button is still green.
Is the caps burned out or something?
Not too much experience but I believe I can fix it if I get some instructions.
Or is it better to have it professionally fixed?
How much would it cost?

By the way, there probably wouldn't be any warranty on it since I've had it for like almost 4 years already.

Thank you very much!

Four years old? Get a new one. That'd be cheaper than fixing the old one. Sounds like you have some circuitry that's dead if not dying.

For what it's worth, I've been doing much the same thing you've done with yours on my 5 year old ViewSonic and it doesn't even have one dead pixel, never mind the problems you're suffering.
