yes i am a rookie pc builder but need some help

Recently i borke the start button on my case. I believe there is a way to "jump start" it with out the button but im not sure. I will by a new case eventually but for now i need my computer to run for a bit. If anyone knows how i can "hot wire" my machine please help. Also will switching the wire leads from the power button to the reset button work?

Please help

Just open the case and see if you can push the power button out again, it's probably just gone in past some stopper thingies (technical term).

Or :)

Simmilar if not identical to the above post, I would follow the two wires leading directly from the SWITCH. Then where they go into the mobo...unplug them...and then connect the two "metal stick up thingies" together witha a jumper or some other way. And kaboom...the power should go on.

Ah the classic, turn your computer on by screwdriver technique :)

Yeah

On the topic of jumpstarting your pc from the mobo atx connector

I wouldnt directly suggest the screwdriver theory. Dunno if its a bad idea or not, but popping open my pc and usin a screwdriver is testy... and putting a jumper on there to start it sounds even worse lol

Id say maybe pull the leads from the switch, and just touch them rather than their respected locations on the mobo, and then you wouldnt have to get all close and worry bout hitting a wrong pin or something along those lines.

And Im not sure how the reset button would work if their on a daughter board, but I dont think it could really hurt to try

Good Luck
