Browser cannot find my internet conection?

Alright, i'm not quite sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'll just try my luck. My problem is the following:

From times to times, my browser (Firefox 3.0) will simply stop working. If I tell him to look up a site, he's just going to stand there forever and ever, neither giving me a 404 nor a "connection not found" message. Reseting, repairing the LAN-connection didn't help either, nor did resetting the connection-properties in my browser. Still, applications like World of Warcraft or similar programs run just fine and don't have any latency issues. I thought they might take away my bandwidth, but shutting those programs down didn't change anything either.

The simple solution: A restart of the computer.

This has been going on for a few months now and it's seriously starting to go on my nerves since it buggs you alot if you have to open all your work or games again just because you have to look something up.

I hope one of you can give me a solution of what to do.

;)

PS: internet explorer can't find the connection either. Also 192.168.2.1 (germany) is not working.

wow. another person with the same problem as me. (click here for the other post) im guessing you're using XP SP2? after much guessing and testing, i think its due to windows. we can rule out ISP, hardware (i had an old com running SP2 with the same problem) and pretty much software because my own com and new com only hv a few common aplications. also, while i was using Vista, nothing like that ever happen. thats all i can tell you 'cause i myself hvnt been able to solve the problem either. btw, i still have the problem currently.

well, maybe you can try SP3. i have the updates but hv not installed it since i heard some bad comments about it like how SP3 is slower than SP2.

i just found the solution to this. every time that u encounter the problem, go Run-> type "cmd" + enter -> type "ipconfig" + enter. that should get the browser going again. im at lost as to how this works but yeah, it works.
