Browser Tests...

ok, are there like browser tests i can run on my computer that will baisically automaticly like do tests on the browsers and figure out which browser will be the best for my pc?

i decided to test out mozilla firefox (newest version), opera (newest version), netscape (newest version), and Internet Explorer 7 Beta...

is this varying on different computers or is this standard... baisically would you get the same results on most computers? i did this on the PC in my signature...

here are my results:

(in quickest ones first)

Big Download (about 900mb):
IE7
Mozilla Firefox
Opera
Netscape

Medium-Big (about 300mb):
IE7
Mozilla Firefox
Opera
Netscape

Medium (75mb):
Mozilla Firefox
IE7
Opera
Netscape

Medium-Small (30mb):
Mozilla Firefox
Opera
IE7
Netscape

Small (8mb):
Opera-Mozilla Firefox (bout the same)
IE7
Netscape

Tiny (800kb):
Opera
Mozilla Firefox
Netscape
IE7

[this section prolly doesn't apply to alot of ppl with computers that load intantaniously :o :o :o :o :o :o :o ]
then here is page loading (loading computer forum)
Opera
Mozilla Firefox
IE7
Netscape

page loading (www.newegg.com):
Opera
Mozilla Firefox - IE7
Netscape

page loading (newegg - all ATX cases - 100 results per page)
Opera
Mozilla Firefox
Netscape
IE7

Opening the Browser:
Opera & Internet Explorer
Mozilla Firefox
Netscape

so then i score... being last in a category is 1 point, 2nd last is 2 points, etc...

Opera: 32
Mozilla Firefox: 30
IE7: 24
Netscape: ...11...lol

ok... it seems to me that Opera is really good at loading pages, and small stuff, and then mozzilla firefox is good for small to medium/high downloads, and IE7 is good for long stamina downloads... and netscape... well nvrm netscape...

so is this varying on different computers or is this real?

(btw, i have been and am using mozilla firefox...)

u prolly wouldn't notice webpage speed juding by the pc in ur profile:o

I use to be a firefox user but I am trying opera 9 beta right now and I am loving it. I have not tried any large downloads yet but I dont see how one browser could download something faster than another browser that has more to do with your connection speed. However I have noticed that pages load real fast with opera compared to firefox and with less memory usage.
I had firefox tweaked too, pipelines enabled, memory leak fixed all the usual stuff people do to firefox and I realy liked it until now! Opera has some cool features too (like this little trash) can if you accidentally close your web page just click on it and there it is. You can also clear your history and cache but still keep your passwords for sites you visit often. I think this is going to be the best browser with out a doubt....X firefox fan!

Firefox flies on Linux and... runs... on Mac. Opera doesn't. However, Fx v2a1 has the memory usage stuff fixed. The rest you can do with extensions.
