Browsing History

I remember once, a long time ago, someone showing me on his computer how to look at your browsing history. He went into an area where every web site he visited in the past so many months, or weeks, or whatever, showed as thumnail icons in this window. What was this and how do I get to it?

history... its on your tool bar in IE or Firefox

Pretty much every browser has a History section.
