I started up my computer this morning and got a message from windows defender that a program spyware.ispynow was detected, i ran a scan in McAfee and nothing was detected. After rebooting my computer I got an message that said ViewMgr has encountered a problem and then immediately after i got the BSOD with stop: 0x0000008e (0xc000005...) message :(. I restarted the computer but the same thing kept happening. I logged on in safemode and ran chkdsk and a full McAfee scan but no problems were detected. What should i do now?

Thanks

Blue Screens of Death or BSODs generally point to either a hardware/device/software driver or a hardware fault of some type. This is more of a software or hardware not infection problem when you see a distinctive error code. Which version of Windows are you running there?

For that particular error the MS information seen at the link is a little lengthy but explains the steps you would take under the "Configuring system failure and Recovery options" seen at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307973/ That applies to Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 there.

The information there seems to be a little wide spread to cover various things but it may help. If you see any more BSODs see if any other information is displayed as well.

Is this on a prebuilt system or a custom case? Sometimes the manufacturer's support site can help on certain types of errors.
