i haven't had sound since i re-downloaded XP. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of my drivers and my sound will not work. it says i have no device because of the realtek ac97 driver being disabled, but when trying to enable i get the bsod, or when i redownload and enable, same bsod.
i'll post my everest report.

i'm not sure how much more you need, but this has been bothering me for weeks, i have crossloop too. |:

aasti: stop code: 0x0000007e something something?
it says like portcls.sys error and something else.

john: its an intel something, i do believe. it just shuts down like usual, gives me the bsod during install.

Looks like you may have to disable the onboard sound and get a dedicated sound card. Quite a few people have had the same issue you have. If you give us the exact model of computer you have we may be able to see if you have the correct driver.

My question to you. is this a custom built computer or a store bought machine? You may have gotten the motherboard name from everest but its always better to get the driver from the computer manufacturer.

if i knew i'd tell you, i'm pretty sure it was bought, but its been restored and stuff. so i'm not sure,
its my roomates and he hasn't had sound on it since his computer person restored it. |: in june sometime, i was going to go back to the last time it had sound but there is no such thing anymore.
where can i find the info you need?
