I just got one at start up;

tcpip.sys

I looked it up and apparently it's network related. I haven't updated or changed my drivers for a while, and I've been using the same network adaptor for months now.

Any ideas?

I've had that error before...
Does it come with the IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error as well?
And does it happen every time you start up?

Edit: And whats the code of the error? I'll do a little googling myself just to see what I can come up with..

Yeah, I got the IRQ, too.

Nope, thi s the first time I've had one in a few months.
I didn't manage to catch the code, sorry.

Pretty random thing to get though...

I've gotten that error on a lot of *cough*illegal*cough* versions of Windows XP. Got it mostly playing games (the more RAM intensive ones, at that) and coming back from sleep/hibernation. If re-installing drivers didn't work, I'm not sure what else to do. From what I read, its not always related to networking, but drivers and RAM. If it doesn't happen often I guess I wouldn't worry to much about it, I've only gotten it to go away by 1) Reinstalling Drivers and 2) Doing a clean install.
But if you ever catch the code that could prove helpful. What I would do is update all of my drivers, and not that just of the NIC.

I have a genuine copy of Vista and no torrent or P2P applications on my computer, so it couldn't be that. I've only got it at BOOT too, never when I've been using the computer. (I've only had it once overall, though)

I'll give the computer a good clean and see how it goes.

You said it could be RAM related?

Thanks for the help, man!

Yes, I would definitely run Memtest, but I wouldn't expect it to be your memory seeing how little it happens.
Wish I could be of more help, but such erratic problems are the worst .

I've ran Memtest more times than I can remember. I'll just play this one out for a few days, see if it comes back. I've looked into it and it could have just been a drive not loading properly, if it happens again, I'll look into it some more.

Thanks again, Dude!

Its always a pleasure Korno.
And yea, I didn't think it was RAM, although that is sometimes the culprit for that error, apparently.
That's probably why you got it whilst booting and why I would sometimes get it coming back from sleep (Windows still doesn't have the damn sleep/hibernate process down, I've seen Windows 7 still screws it up sometimes).
Best of luck to ya!

Edit: And I can't stress the fact more, your network driver might not be the cause, even if it is a driver error. Update anything you can. :D
