Budget £300 already have some components

I have 2 x 2GB of Corsair XMS3 1600MHz, a SpinPoint F3 1TB HDD, a SATA optical drive and an OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W. Would prefer to go with an Intel CPU, but will go the AMD route if the budget will not allow a decent Intel setup. I will need no more Graphics Processing Power than a HD5770, probably a bit less, a 5670 or 450 would suffice. Photo editing, moderate gaming, mainly older titles.
Also, a case. I would like to spend no more than £40, was thinking the NZXT Beta Evo, thoughts?
£300 to work with, which doesn't include Windows or a monitor.

I'd get the HAF912 for a case. That's 60 pounds inc VAT.

you can get the cheapest 1156, 1366 or 1155 setup and still have better performance than the best AMD setup.

I suggest wait until core i3 2100 come out next month, it would have better upgrade pathway in future.

No point to get LGA 1156 at the moment, i5 LGA 1155 is overbudget
