Budget Build - Suggestions Please.

Personally, for what you're using the machine for. I would say you can stay away from the PCI-E boards, and you really don't need the 1 GB of RAM. If you're really on a tight budget, you might even rethink the SATA hard drives and just stick to an ATA.

Now, initially I did have an AGP board and GFX Card but for the low price of the upgrade and the ability to upgrade it in the future I went for a PCI-E board/card. I have only got 512MB ram and Im going to stick with that (I can always add another 512MB in the future). And a SATA drive is a must for me - the prices are not that different and the performace is improved greatly over ATA. Keep in mind the total is still around the £250 mark so it is affordable. Thanks for the imput though. ;)

I haven't responded to this thread for a while. How's the build coming along? Can you post the final specs or did you edit it on the first page?

it has been edited on the first page. I am still waiting for your ideas but the build seems ok to me as of now, I just have to choose a keyboard and mouse and Im set to buy. Its for my girlfriend so she wants a pink keyboard and the case I have chosen is white/beige so I'm going to spray it pink for her. I am still open to ideas so keep them coming lol.

Just a quick question.. The board I am going to buy has a 24pin and a 4pin power connector.

The psu that comes with the case has a 20pin power connector, Im sure that the 20pin power connector will still fit into the 24pin slot. Is this correct??
