ok, i need to come up with the cheapest rig that can play most games at decent frames on high or medium, i was thinking pentium dual core and 9800 gtx or something? anyway the budget is around 600 dollars, with no case
 
Go with a Core 2 Duo, not a Pentium. 4GB of RAM would be perfect as well. 9800GTX would be ok although I don't know how good a value they are.
 
the thing is, im not really looking to keep it around for long, this would mainly be just for a new faster computer, because after that, im going to be getting a 790i and a quad core with sli, after the prices come down

I don't think you can beat this for the price.
you could get an e8400 or q6600 if you have the budget.
remember to combo the ram and gpu for a 19.49 savings.
