Hi.

I'm doing a lot of 3-d animation in my sparetime. Nothing serious, but anyway I would like to have a nice computer without too much render time. (using a laptop at this moment) I also game often.

My budget is around 1700 $ I'm going with antec 900 and I do not need screen mouse or keyboard.

Hope someone willl help :D

na get the Q6600 an get a good CPU cooler an Overclock it to 3.0GHZ if thats why u want the E8400 u could even go further if u wanted to iv heard it to be overclocked to 3.9GHz

u said u like to do 3-D animation a quad core will do it better than a duel core oh yea i would get 4G of ram to help with your 3-D stuff
if u got the E8400 an overclocked it it would have more MHz but not as powerfull at the quad core Q6600 @3.0

I will deffinately take that in to consideration :)

Quad supported games are rare. People have said that Quads actually perform worse in gaming than Duals, as Quads are made more for multitasking than gaming.

This brings me into a little dilemma huh? :P I think I'll go with the E8400, it cant be much of a difference there is? And its a lot cheaper

E8400: is more energy conservative, runs cooler, 45nm, and has a higher FSB.

Overall, it's a great processor.
