I'm trying to build a cheap gaming/productivity pc and I just want other opinions on what I have lined up for it.

Case: ROSEWILL ATX Case , Mid Tower Case with Blue LED Fan / Gaming Case for PC with Side Window Panel & 3 Fans Pre-Installed , Computer Case 2 x USB3.0 Port $48.09

Motherboard: Gigabyte AM3+ AMD DDR3 1333 760G HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Motherboard
AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition $66.54

Processor: AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition $89.95

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB SC GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan), 3GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC), Only 6.8 Inches Graphics Cards 03G-P4-6162-KR $219.99

Ram: Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) $69.99

Storage: WD Blue 2TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD20EZRZ $67.00

Power Supply: EVGA 500 W1, 80+ WHITE 500W, 3 Year Warranty, Power Supply 100-W1-0500-KR $39.99

The total with tax came out to $637.65

If there is anything missing or any suggestions to make it better, I'm ok with the price raising a bit, if it means a better build. I'm new to buliding PCs, so thanks in advance for any advice!

Howdy!

You can't pair DDR4 with that system, it only accepts DDR3.

I'd suggest a Ryzen build instead, even Ryzen 3 will be very much faster than that FX6300 (60%+ IPC).

Because i think 8 is too little for that pc, and i think 16 is the sweet spot, but its a budget build so 12 would probably be sufficient.

??

Motherboard run dual channel.
Usually you get 2 x 4GB or 2 x 8GB
There is no 2 x 2 GB DDR4 existing.

Also I don't think there is a need for a budget PC with 16GB RAM

The GPU is slightly less powerful of a chip, but that extra 1gb of VRAM helps it outperform the 1060 3GB in most games. I also only put a 1TB drive but also included an SSD for the boot drive.

Personally would disagree with motherboard and RAM choice.
Once of the selling point of Ryzen is overclocking. For $$ the difference between A320 and B350, it is better to get B350 which allow overclocking

Also, with Ryzen CPU, you need fast RAM to utilize it.

Oh crap. I know about the fast ram part. I just keep forgetting.

8 gb is way to little. I have a pc with that much ram and a fx 6300 and it lags with everyday usage. i threw in 8 gb more and it fixed it.

It's a fx 6300. Lag should be expected.
Ehhhh depends what you're doing. It should be pretty smooth in general productivity unless you're doing something to saturate other resources like ram.

8G is okay for most games if you don't have a bunch of other crap open in the background.

agree. FX 6300 is not a bad cpu for regular tasks. like i said, upgrading the ram fixed the lag.

i also have a 6300 with 8gb of ram and i always have over 5gb unused.you might want to find out where your ram is going because there is no way you can be using that much.

Its just stock windows ten. The ram and CPU usage seemed okay, but I think it's just all that Windows 10 bloat ware in background
