My familys pc recently stopped working and my dad wants to get a new one.
I have been saving to build my own pc for about 5 months.
My question is what would this pc be like for gaming (it's the one my dad wants to get) http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC7928/acer-aspire-x3960-at902-cpu
Also could I build a heaps better one for gaming at around the same price?
I just wanted to know if the one we might get would be good for gaming or would i still be better off building my own. I would buy my parts off this website.
http://www.techbuy.com.au/
also The motherboard I would get is the ASRock Z77 extreme 4 because i reckon its hell good.
thanks :):):)

The price I would build pc is with out a os.
Could you tell me how long it would last until it old need to upgrade for the latest games
Thanks :)

Tell us how much can you spend and we will suggest a complete build for you.

you could get a decent gaming computer for $800these days

Links don't work. Can't see price on prebuilt. Building yourself may or may not cost less but will get you better parts.

What's the budget w/o OS?
Does it have to be from techbuy?

You should build your own computer.

Er, that link doesn't work. I'd get the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H or the GA-Z77X-D3H over the ASRock Extreme 4.

Tell us more information about what you're going to be using it for. Are you going to be doing editing or photoshop? What games are you playing?

EDIT: Just noticed you're Aussie :).

Sorry about the links.
I have a budget of around 600-700 Australian dollars.
I will be using it for alomost just gaming. I will use it for web broswering and interntet stuff aswell. I will play games like counter strike. Latest battle feild and other fps games.
Does not have to be from tech buy but it has to be from an australian site.

How well it would play latest games right now, depends on the games. What games are they?
Link us the one dad wants to get so we can point to the differences of the one you build.

Like battle field 3 and games similar to that. SO would it be playing the latest battle fields in say 3 years?
I don't know what it was called. It was like ASUS or something. It was $600ish I think.

Also could someone help me start by listing a build for under $700 please.
I know a little bit about computers so ill change a few things around :)

I'm not too good with budgeting but I'll tell you some good brands to buy from :).

Motherboard: Gigabyte, Asus or MSI. Personally I'd get a Gigabyte.
RAM: G.Skill, Corsair, Patriot.
SSD: SanDisk, Corsair, Samsung, M4.
HDD: Seagate, Western Digital.
GPU: Nvidia and AMD are both good. EVGA, Sapphire, Gigabyte, MSI.
PSU: Corsair, Seasonic. There are other good brands that I can't remember the name of, personally I'd just go with Corsair.
Case: Make sure you get a good quality one with good cable management.

What are your thoughts on this build? Any way I can take the price down to under $700?

I will most likley go with the gigabyte then if its still that price when i go to buy it.
Do you know any parts i could down grade because at the moment it is out side my budget

you could go down to a H61 motherboard or maybe even H77 to reduce price. You won't loose much. Just CF ability, and overclock ability, which you don't need with an i3. They can't be overclocked really anyhow.

Okay , i wont be doing overclocking anyway. I thought the Z77 is a later motheboard so i could upgrade easier.
What cheaper mobo could you recemend?

swapping the Z77 for the Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H Motherboard makes the build with in my budget. When I go to buy all the parts once i have enough money ill post a final build. Any Parts would you suggest i change?
