Budget Gaming Computer

I only use my computer to search the web and play WoW. I dont plan on overclocking any of these. Just want a CPU that will last me for next 5+ years. I have a GTX 550 video card, and would like to spend $200 on a CPU/Motherboard. I was thinking maybe one of these two. With a $70 motherboard.

i3, 4150, 3.50 GHz, 2 cores, $120
i3, 3250, 3.50 GHz, 2 cores, $120

(I was going to order a intel i7 930 CPU for $100, but all the motherboards for them are $130+)

Which CPU should I get??

(Any Motherboards you recommend?)

I'd go with the 4150 out of the two since it's on the newer 1150 socket. The 3250 is based on previous generation tech and fits the EOL 1155 socket.

I wouldn't count on an i3 lasting 5 years, though.

What CPU would last me for the next 5 years?. I the comp i had before lasted me 6 years without having to upgrade anything.

For casual gaming, and internet surfing, would I be better off getting a quad core CPU? even though I wont be overclocking it.

Will that have a better chance at lasting me the next 5 years?

Are you stuck on Intel or would you consider AMD?

I think on this occasion you'd be better off with AMD since you want it to last a long time and your budget is bit restricted. I'm thinking that an i3 perhaps isn't future-proof enough and the i5s are a bit pricey for your budget,

You can get the 8 core FX-8320 for $160 which performs about the same as the $235 i5 4690K but has the ability to be overclocked. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285&cm_re=fx-8320-_-19-113-285-_-Product

The problem with relying on overclockng though is that a $40 board isn't going to offer very good overclocking capabilities and you will need aftermarket cooling, but if you're not interested in overclocking pick up a board like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=am3+_motherboard-_-13-130-630-_-Product

If you do want to overclock pick up the cheap 6 core FX-6300 for $120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286&cm_re=fx-6300-_-19-113-286-_-Product and get a board like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...8651&cm_re=ga-970a-ud3-_-13-128-651-_-Product

Either of those setups would be fine I think. I think the FX-6300 and 8320 will be a little more future-proof than an i3 but you can always upgrade your graphics card to get better performance.

I am assuming you already have some DDR3 RAM to go with these setups?
