Budget Gaming PC

I am in desperate need of a new computer and would like my new computer to be able to handle most games at a decent frame rate and settings. The problem is that I'm really short on cash. Is it possible for me to build a decent machine for $400? This excludes peripherals. I'll be running Windows 7. Can someone recommend me a build? I'm no good when it comes to selecting the hardware.

edit: I would also like to use this case with the build, I know it's a bit expensive for a budget PC, but I'm willing to up the price of my build by $50 or $60 to add in this case.

1 Are you in the US or UK?
2 Do you already have a monitor?
3 What games?

Hey Ryan, the problem with your question is your missing out key information, mentioned by the above users.

  • Where you are located
  • Do you already own a monitor, or some form of display
  • Do you have other parts that you can pinch from other systems.

Another problem is "most games" as in the newer ones? Older ones? What games in particular are you playing that you want to run well.

Sorry for the lack of information.

I live in Canada, I'll be covering the cost of peripherals such as a monitor, mouse and keyboard outside of the $400 budget.

Counter Strike Source, World of Warcraft, is Crysis possible?

Sorry I can't make a huge list of games, it's just that I've been a really big console gamer all my life and most of the games today I already have on my PS3 or Xbox.

All you need to do is check the System requirements for each game your going to play and find out what you can upgrade or update so it will run as best as you can get it with your budget.

I'm from the UK but I found this nice bundle for under $370.

But with a graphics card, ram, dvd burner and power supply, the price will be wayy above $400.
