I am getting a graphics card for another friend and he is giving me $70. It has to be PCI express. What is the best card for that much I can get? shipping not included. Thanks in advance

honestly it depends what he wants to do with the card....

if he has a little more saved up i would strongly strongly recommend a 7600 gs

its very very innexpensive in comparison to the 7600 gt, and you still get really solid preformance out of it, im running about 200 fps on CSS on the highest settings at 1280 x 1024...

i would also recommend getting PNY's version of the card because they put a fan on it, whereas all of the other manufacturers that i have seen are usings passive cooling

Well, he is asking me to upgrade his comp for no more than $300 and he will gradually upgrade in the future. I tried to get him future-friendly easily upgradeable parts. I got him a PCI-express mobo, Athlon 64 skt 939 and 512MB RAM (1GB wouldnt fit budget) We have $70 left and he wants a decent gaming rig. I was als looking at the 7300GS, it looks much better than his FX5200 so I might be etting that if I can't ask him to see if he can get the 6600.

i would wait and save at least until i have $100 to get somethin better

his parents are making him save his money to buy a car, he could only convince his parents to let him use $300 on his comp.

ok, so the 6600 is better than the 7300GS? I only see that the 6600 has 8 rather than 4 pixel pipes and 128bit mem rather than 64bit but the rest is slower. I guess that would make a difference. I'll do some research on the performance of each.

Of course, if your friend can push his budget by $20-$30, you can get an X800GTO
Thats what I did, he got his mom to buy his RAM which gave him just enough money to get the X800GTO and end up paying $300.62
