I need some help building a decent PC by September for around 1000. First time building a pc so if yall have some input on ways to go to get the best bang for the buck I would appreciate it. I am looking for a gaming computer to last me a couple years that i can upgrade if needed.

If you dont plan on building until september...I would wait until then to get a build list, as prices drop, new things can be released, stuff can be on sale, etc.

well since it will be awhile defenitly get a list together of what you need
then look at your local store. the stores online and mail order houses.
shop around get prices on the parts & always look at the specs for the parts you're looking at for the computer you intend to build make sure it all fits together nicely in the end.

if you have spare parts around the room with you that will work nicely use those, save yourself some $$

OK guys thanks for the input. I will wait till September.

I agree with others - re: choosing parts later on. But it doesn't hurt to purchase some parts ahead of time for a Budget PC.

i.e. If you know roughly what your build will be - you can pick up a case that you want with a Sale price or Free shipping and save 10-20 bucks. Or you can pick up a Power Supply for cheap. I had my PSU a month or 2 before I build my first PC. Haven't seen it sold cheaper than what I paid for it either.

I also purchased my CPU a few weeks before I bought my MOBO. Both were sale prices ( 199 for Core i7 CPU - and 209 A/R for Gigabyte UD4P MOBO .) I haven't seen those prices beat since i made the purchases.

Try to read up on things a few minutes a day on a site like this / The Tech Report / or Tom's Hardware - keep an eye on sale prices - combo discounts at NewEgg's site if you'r efrom the US and you can buy when the time makes the most sense to you. Fatwallet.com is another site to keep an eye on for Hot prices that pop up for short periods of time. That's how I learned out about the core i7 sale prices.
