This is my idea for a super gaming computer Id like to build. So far its up to $1,050 and I am sure im missing a couple things and need help with configuring all this to make sure its compatible. Any suggestions is wonderful Thanks.

NZXT Phantom PHAN-002OR Newegg Exclusive Black Finish w/Orange Trim Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case ($119),

EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($74.99)

ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS ($179.99),

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9Q-32GXM ($259.99),

AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor FD8350FRHKBOX($169.99),

SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100363VX-3L Radeon R9 280X 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support TRI-X STD WITH BOOST (UEFI) Video Card ($239.99)

This is what I had in mind. I understand im missing a cd-rom drive but the computer i am using now hopefully can be used towards that. I was hoping I could also reuse my fans from it. I just need to know if this setup will work and whether or not im missing anything. Please help me.

+1 for ninjas build :good:. The i5 4690k is extremely good for gaming better than the fx 8350. The gtx 970 is also better than the 280x, on par with an r9 290.

I'd just consider a good cpu cooler and possibly an SSD for OS.

Processors

Whats the main difference between i5's and i7's, which is better for gaming. Ive seen so many i5 builds it makes me wonder if its just the cheaper or better route.

They're basically similar although the i7 has a little more cache and hyperthreading. Otherwise you'll get similar performance in gaming or lightly threaded scenarios, so you may as well save a few bucks and go with the i5.

How is this build then?

NZXT Phantom PHAN-002OR Newegg Exclusive Black Finish w/Orange Trim Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case ($119),

Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply($59.88)

Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($137.99),

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9Q-32GXM ($259.99),

Is there anything wrong with 32GB Ram? I know 16Gb Ram is probably all you need but I figured it would help and couldnt hurt.

AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor FD8350FRHKBOX($169.99),
or
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.75)

In my mind i figured 8 core and 4.0 ghz would be better. Is it because of the integrated graphics?

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card ($329.00)

This comes to a total of a little under $1,200. I threw in a optical Drive and case as far as your builds go. Any recommendations for a SSD? My budget runs to $1,500 so if theres anything better or that I can add please tell me.

32gb is useless unless you are doing something memory intensive. If this is strictly a gaming machine 16gb is plenty. I highly recommend Samsung 850 evo or pro for your SSD.

Im going with the Samsung 870 evo for sure, Whats a good size SSD and is it better to have both a SSD and HDD?

Probably the Samsung 870 evo 250GB ($118.98)
