Alright.

As a home school project, I have an assignment to build a website.

I dont have much experience with this.

Though I currently have a website up and running, but it was choose a template, choose color, input text, publish.

I am looking for more in depth type of stuff.

I would like to start with the basic website building, then move onto more advanced building.

Any tips, guides, information, programs that code websites *Like HTML and stuff*.

Thanks.

Derek.

Its called an edit button.

And I asked it here, since I know a lot about this topic.

And I know a handful of people here that can help me.

i remember me building a website from scratch (withelp of my bro - webmaster) when i was still at school, nowadays if someone tells me he/she wants a website i just grab a free template online and edit

I've build many websites...

There is no one way to do that, you can make the website with codes (HTML, Javascript, PHP etc) or with Flash...

I recommand you learn the basics of HTML, then learn Javascript (Pretty easy script) and if you want to continu in the scripts, learn PHP.

I started Flash, and love it, but then again, I bought a 600 pages book just to learn how to use the program, then another book to learn how to create websites with it lol.

Good luck on that, if you have other questions, I can help you :D

I just started using NVU to re-teach myself HTML since it has been a long time since I have coded a web page. This program is free and open source and will get you going, and just go through the online tutorial. That is what i did. Once you get competent enough with HTML you will just use a text editor and code it completely from scratch.

If you want something thats OK to startup, and fairly easy to maintain, how about thinking of building a website inside Visual Web Developer, which can be downloaded here from the MSDN website.
