Build advice regarding motherboard and cpu

Hello sorry if this is in the wrong category.

At the minute, apart from my laptop I have two computers.

Both 1gb ram
both asrock motherboards
both pretty much the same specs

one of them however loads and then after about 15 minutes it just turns itself off

its not the psu or the ram as ive replaced them in the other computer and the other one works fine

just wondered whether it'd be possible to take the cpu (both cpus are the same) from the good computer into the one thats broken to test whether it was the cpu causing the problem

apart from an antistatic wristband that i have, will i need any other kit to remove it. how easy will it be, it'll only be for a couple of hours whilst i see if it turns off, just to diagnose whether i need to buy a new cpu or motherboard!!

For information

cpu: amd athlon xp 3000+
motherboard: As Rock K7S41GX

It's only a basic pc for simple web browsing e.t.c.

If both processors are the same model, you should be able to swap them out.

All you need to remove it is a screwdriver to get the heat sink off/on, and some thermal paste.
 
You could probably even find it at radio shack. Arctic Silver 5 would be a good choice..it's good and you see it everywhere.
 
When I put the CPU into my old machine and then transfer it back to the old machine, it wont require installation or anything or reinstallation or that?

I've never heard of that before, and it's most likely not as good as AS5, but it should be ok as long as you aren't overclocking or anything.
