Build ALMOST ready few questions...

I ended up purchasing the seagate 750gb HDD that was on sale at new egg


i just have few more parts I need which I should be getting thursday then I can finally start...I did wanna use this thread for any questions I had during the build but I do have some before I start.

I did want to buy an SSD for it , but don't know if i'll have the money with this next check and I just want to start already.
My question though is if I buy the windows 7 for system builders am I going to be able to install it on this drive and then redo it on the SSD once i get it?
Also do you guys partition your drives? Is it recommended?

You should be able to install and reinstall your System Builders OS as many times as you wish. Only if you change motherboards would you expect to have a problem with activation. Most people will put a single primary partition on a drive - Meaning that the OS will see a single drive of the drive's maximum capacity.

So like how many gbs dedicated to the OS partition? Also, what's the reason for this?
 
No, I'm not implying a separate partition for the OS. To use the entire capacity of the drive as a single drive you would partition the entire drive as a single primary partition.
 
If you mean why cant you change motherboards with an OEM OS i believe it is so microsoft can make more money. Most storebought computers come with an OEM OS so if it fails you would have to pay for the new OS rather than just use the same OS from your old system and find a new system without a hard drive. The full version i believe is 60-70$ more but can be installed on different motherboards in case one fails. I think im right here not 100% feel free to correct me.

I actually was talking about the HDD haha... I'm not sure if it would be worth it to buy the full version?
 
ANy other recommendations besides just primary partition? Does it affect performance at all (negative/postive) to have more partitions?
 
You are quite able to perform a new install of windows 7 on a new hard disk drive OEM allows it. Its just when you change a whole motherboard out is when you start to run into problems with an OEM install.
