Build around Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz

Son likes to game. I have a Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K coming the 8th. I have a 650 Antec power supply in an older Antec case, one with 8 fans. I want a motherboard that will take 32 ga of memory, a good to very good video card, TV turner, and anything else I need to build. If the power supply is enough for the i7-4790K please tell me what one to get. I don't want to build a $4000 computer but want something that will use the i7-4790K. I can assemble just don't know what to buy. I do know that you need to go with what works will with the CPU.

Not sure why you want 32GB of RAM for gaming (only makes sense for editing), but if you're looking for speed, consider the X99 motherboards and jump to DDR4.

We do need a budget though. This computer could be completed for as little as $500 or as much as $3000...

Budget? What resolutions and games does your son play. A 980 or 970 will be your best bet. But depending on the types of games, no point getting 980 for low end games for example.

Shouldn't really need 32gb unless it's for heavy editing, 16gb should be plenty for both.

A good cpu cooler might be a good choice as well. Corsair, bitfenix, nzxt, cooler master are good cases if your looking for a case to fit the board given above.

Would like to stay $3000 or under. The Acounting programs the wife runs will slow 16 ga down to where she is waiting for the end result. The son is always buying the greatest and newest games. He, age 20, is in the USVI's right now so can't ask what his hog game is.

I omitted the CPU and changed the cooler + motherboard/RAM but this list could work: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vpRZjX

Only thing I'd recommend is dropping the 1TB SSD and going for a 256GB + 2TB Hybrid drive. Fast, but plentiful storage. This build also has a newer case with a more sleek design. Also, the PSU is more fitted to something of this wattage, but still gives great overhead. I recommend: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bJPM23

Dream build for most guys. It'll demolish anything.

I think okey's build is about the best for your price range. I'd personally ask your son the fps and resolution he wants to play. 2x gtx 980 will do 4k at 60fps. So there's no point getting 2 if he wants to play 1080p 60fps.

Maybe consider a nzxt kraken x61 if the case supports it, it's about the best pre-built water cooler there is which will come in handy for overclocking the cpu.

With regards to the cpu I'd send it back for refund it will be worth it for a 6 core and ddr4 RAM.

Oke had a different socket though. X99 isn't an option I guess..
