build computer won't start

hi everyone!
i build my computer, buying parts but after i plugged it in it didn´t move.
here's what i've bought:

power supply: xilence power ATX, 550 W, 17 A at 12 V
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 6400+ (in box)
tower: Geh ATX Midi ASUS TA-863
Mainboard: FOXCONN A690VM2MA-RS2H SocketAM2
has Sata and IDE bus, graphics and audio on board
Ram: two KINGSTON 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz
HD: HITACHI Deskstar P7K500 400GB (bus type: S-ATAII)
DVD writer is IDE

i connected this parts, no graphic card yet (because it didn't come)
but the computer didn't start.
i think there was no problem installing the CPU, ram.
i had some problems connecting the audio front pannel because of different descriptions of cables (ac 97 vs ..) but i think it went fine.

strange is that i didn't found a cable for the power led from the tower, hd led i think i got it right with the polarity
also the tower has a cable that looks like a power cable (fits to the 4 pin power cable from the power supply but there are only 2 pins inside)

i connected 2 power cable to the mainboard: the one with 20 pins and the 12 V one with 4 pins

then i tried to start the computer only with monitor but nothing happend.

if you got some good ideeas i would be thankfull.

So, you sure you've got all the power buttons in the right headers?

Also, do you have the 4 pin power cable in, it's to the top left of the CPU ;)

Also, make sure you haven't put too many brass stand-offs in the case, this is what caused my system not to boot when I built it ;)

1. I have only a hd led, a power switch an a reset swich, i know that polarity plays a part only for the leds.
2. 4 pin cable check
3. sounds strange but ok i' ll give it a try later.
 
ok i had 2 problems:

standoffs: they shortcutted the mainboard it looks like i can only use 2 of them (maybe i can find some longer ones)
and second the psu i bought is broken,
the computer runs now ok with the psu from my old one
