Build Confirmation Before I Buy (Please Help)

Over the past few years, I have worked on updating computers, so I have some experience with building a computer. My friend has asked me to build him a computer with some of the latest hardware that will support everyday activities and some hardcore gaming.

I have set up a build with parts I have found on the internet but I have not bought them yet. Since he is paying me a good amount of money for building this computer, I do not want to mess anything up.

I was wondering if all the parts of this build are compatible with one another and if I have everything to begin building. So please tell me if anything will not be compatible or if I am leaving anything off. Please recommend any parts that I will need to complete this build.

Hardware List:
Corsair - 700-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply
Intel – DP67BG Desktop Motherboard
Intel - Core i5-2500k Quad-Core 3.3GHz Processor
Seagate - Barracuda 2TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive
Corsair - XMS3 (2 x 4gb) 8GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory Module
APEVIA X-JUPITER G-Type X-JUPITERG-BK Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower
LG - 12x Internal Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive
Cooler Master - Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooling Fan with Heat Sink

I am willing to spend a max of $1050 on this build. If you have any better build that will support medium performance gaming that doesn't go over my spending limit then please tell me.

look for a different motherboard. I have no experience with intel brand boards, but I will almost guarantee that there will be a lack of extras on it that other boards have.

I would recommend MSI, ASrock, or Gigabyte.

I found another thread that has a similar build. They are using an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro motherboard. I searched it and it is a lot better then the one I had on the list before. It is still an Intel based motherboard but made by ASUS, a brand I really trust.

Is everything else okay though?

Well, you'll definitely need an actual graphics card if you're to be doing any gaming at all.

Different case. That one has no room at all for cable management.

What Mhz are your RAM?

With all the hardware I have, would I be better off with a mid tower case or a full tower case. I would like a cheap case with cable management, at least 1 fan for cooling (besides the power supply), and if I can get one with usb 3.0. I would like the case to be under $100, preferably around $50.

the HAF 912 fits your needs. It only has USB2, but your board has a USB3 add on bracket, so you can install that fairly easily and have your USB3.

On the CPU, yes. There is a IPU on die, but if you wish to OC at all (your getting the K, so assuming you are), then your graphics will hold you back. You need a dedicated card. even a GTX550ti or HD6770 would be fine. Just using intel HD3000 is like putting a 350 engine on a bicycle. Can it be done, yes. Will you have fun with it, not really.

I really like the size on this case and you have also saved me an extra $10, I was thinking about getting an Antec Three Hundred Two but I like your choice much better!

Also, what would be your thought on an internal solid state drive. Is it really worth getting for the boot process or should I wait until they come in larger sizes?

Right now, at estimating this build, (on phone now) and giving your mobo 130, I got $580, plus $100 for windows. The hard drive you chose is huge and likely costs a lot of money. I would go with a smaller drive for now and use that money towards a graphics card.

I thought I could help alittle, so here.

Total: $1,099.63 w/shipping. With mail-in rebates, $1,069.63<--- $19.63 over budget, but it's a very good build IMHO for a grand.

This PC should do him/her very well, GL! hope I helped.

The build tech savvy posted would probably your best bet for gaming and over-clocking capabilities, especially at that price, but....if you have to have the blu ray burner and little better hard drive you could do a 1 tb barracuda and the lg blu ray burner, but you'd have to drop your card down to a radeon 6850 or something similar and you would not be able to fit liquid cooling in the budget.

@tech savvy, thank you so much for looking up an entire build for me and the cost.
@everyone else, thank you for your help with making a decision with the little money I have to build it with. I have chosen to go with everything tech savvy has recommended. I may be back on here for any help while setting it up and I will for sure be back whenever I build my computer.

Thanks again.

Wow, good finds, Savvy.

One thing though. Razor, in your first build, you had a bluray player. Might want to check with your friend to see if he has a need for one, otherwise that drive would work.

He said he doesn't need the blu-ray. I'm the one who chose to add it as I think it is really handy as I have recently bought one myself. They are great quality for the price but I have already went over the budget about $10-$20 which is what I promised him.

Thanks again for your help. I will try and post pictures of progress. I will be transferring the money tomorrow and ordering all parts this weekend.

I'm ordering his parts right now. The price is cheaper than what you predicted and I also found some promo codes that will make it in my budget.

Since I'm getting free shipping, I am wanting to go ahead and buy a motherboard for my own build. Found a Gigabyte AMD 990FX that fits all my needs as I will be upgrading my processor to an AMD FX-6100.

My only question is will this motherboard support my already owned AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 2.21GHz?

I would like to go ahead and fire it up when I open it out of the box but I will not be able to if it is not compatible. I know that the Athlon I have is old and slow but its okay until I can afford the FX-6100
