So I've heard talk around other forums that when using two high-end video cards with large resolutions, the 16 PCIe lanes that are in Z87 mobo/CPUs are not enough, and people have reported getting better minimum/average FPS while using socket 2011 boards/CPUs and two video cards.

Now, I do not have exact proof of this, but it was just talks I heard on different forums. Just something to think about/research.

You could get an Evo for less money:

http://www.mwave.com.au/product/samsung-840-evo-250gb-25-sata-iii-ssd-mz7te250bw-ab50746

A little slower, but a good chunk of change less, I'd say.

Besides that, looks great

It's all looking good. :D

I see in the Upcoming Purchases thread you are now considering two 290Xs over two 780s - are you still going for the GeForces or are you looking at the Radeons now? Have you considered the 780 Ti too?

I'd go for 2x R9 290X. Crossfire is getting better, the frame pacing technology has nearly fixed all microstutter.
I wouldn't go for 2 GTX 780TIs, that would be around 250$ more for almost no performance gain. On higher resolutions the R9 290X seems to be on par with the GTX 780Ti (4Gb Ram).
Also, the real performance of the R9 290X can't be found in the current reviews, since with the bad reference cooler the clock speed is knocked back (that's why the R9 290 performs so close to the R9 290X, it received a more aggresive fanspeed before launch). If you are going to watercool these beasts, no game will be able to hold it back.

Another great option could be 2 R9 290s. The R9 290 is faster then the GTX 780 and almost as fast as the GTX Titan + crossfire scales pretty good. The price of the R9 290 is also very attractive.

Yeah I guess that what im least sure of.

Best platform for SLI.

Best dual card purchase now for 5760 x 1080

decisions decisions

And can I ask what you are the least sure of? SLI still has less microstutter then CF, but believe me, you won't be able to notice it. Or you must have very good eyes.
Normally CF scales better then SLI in terms of FPS, but it really depends on the game.
You could always go for a single R9 290X :). I also heard rumours of a 6Gb version of the GTX 780 Ti, but that one will cost too much if you want 2 of them.

If i was you i would just go with a Nvida card but hey that's just my opinion.

What's this for a post? Give the reason why and be more specific which card. You can't just take a card when you plan to game on 5760x1080...
This post is useless for the op.

You think a single R9 290X will be sufficient for BF4 Ultra at 5760 x 1080? I means I don't want it dropping below 60FPS ever. :)

I guess I could always add another one later and I think 4GB VRAM will be plenty for me for this computer lifetime.

I would go with 2 290Xs. They will most likely have better scaling, and they have Mantle, perform similarly to the 780Tis and are cheaper. Also, get a 4820K, not a 3820.

Im reading the 290x's are having issues to be honest - and would wait until both mantel and 3rd party coolers are seen and tested... I trust that NVidia have better driver support too, which is a significant issue when considering SLI/CF and multiple monitors.

Haven't made a final decision yet, and I'll pull the pin next week, but as it stands here is my draft build for comment:

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard - $539 http://www.mwave.com.au/product/asus...rboard-ab49641
Intel Core i7 4820k Quad Core LGA 2011 3.7GHz CPU Processor - $379 - http://www.mwave.com.au/product/intel-core-i7-4820k-quad-core-lga-2011-37ghz-cpu-processor-ab51432

2 x Bitspower G1/4 Black Sparkle Compression Fitting CC5 - $18 - http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=23099
Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB - $291 - http://www.mwave.com.au/product/corsair-neutron-gtx-240gb-25-sata-iii-ssd-cssdn240gbgtxbbk-ab48698

I would stick with the two 780 Tis. 3GB should be enough RAM.

Rest looks good to me, of course. ;)

Yeah at ultra settings, 5760 x 1080, BF4 doesn't use more than 3GB, so that's what I was thinking too...

Will keep looking at benches, and considering options, happy to take any other solutions. The 2011 socket, with the 40PCIe lanes, and watercooled 4820K should keep the CF/SLI high end cards fed with data. Want to ensure I have a e-atx motherboard to keep a gap between the cards, as im hoping to avoid watercooling this time around for the gpus.
