I have a problem with a system which i build.

mobo ASUS P5B-VM

cpu Intel Core2Duo E7400

graphic card XFX 9600GSO PCI-E 2.0

RAM KINGSTON KVR533D2N4 1G (it's full compatible module with the specific mobo)

POWER SUPPLY THERMALTAKE 500W

tower thermaltake vg1000bns

HDD WD 320GB SATA 2

I plug all the connections
cpu fan, 4pins mobo +12V, Atx connector (that whith the many pins)
hdd led, reset sw, power sw, graphic card power supply. power led.

But the monitor stay in stand by mode.. The fans of cpu and graph card are working.
I unplug th graph card and connect the monitor to on board graph card and the result was the same.
No beep hearing from mobo.
Any idea? Did i have forgot to connect something?

A desperate man

PS. I unplug everything and I rebuild it but nothing change.
PS2 Somewhere into mobo book writes

"If installing a dual-core CPU, connect the chassis fan cable to the Cha_FAN connector to ensure system stability"

What exactly i must connect on this? I try to connect a fan but nothing happen again

Is there any lights on your mobo and did you plug the 24 pin connector in

Yes the green led which is on the mobo is lighting.
24 pin connector it is connected, i wtote it at the previus post but it wasn;t so clear "Atx connector (that whith the many pins)"|:D:D

I just built a system this week that was doing the exact same thing. All the fans would come on, the board lights would come on, I could hear the hard drive spinning and the optical drive would run. But I could not get video out. I tried different video cards, different ram, swapping ram around, etc. Finally I tore the entire system down to all the individual parts and re-assembled. This time I didn't plug in anything needed to boot into bios (hard drive, optical drive, etc). Then it booted into bios and I had video output. Then I would power down and attach one component at a time and boot it up. By the time I had everything connected again and was back to the original ram and video card, it was still working.

I am thinking the cpu must have been slightly misaligned or had a hair or some debris blocking the connections. The only thing that I had trouble with later on was a connector for hd audio, it has to be unplugged or it won't boot.

Good luck!

I just about to say that. If the is no beep and no video output, it must be cpu not properly attached.

Is the hard drive spinning?

Yeap, all the peripherals are working, HDDs, Floppy, DVDROMs. The point is that the monitor doesn't switch on when I switch the power on from the power button and I believe that this is CPU's problem. I uninstalled and reintalled the cpu , the memory and unplug all the peripherals but the pc denied to start properly again. The fan was spinning, the led on the motherboard was lighting and the monitor doesn't open.

Can someone explain me this, please

I had connect a fan but doesn't spinning when i try to start the pc.

the problem was solved and was very simple and a great malakeia of me. The specific mobo doesn't support the Core 2 Duo E7400 cpu but Core 2 Duo E6700 and the previous ones.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
