Build Server Info Links

Hello all I need to build a web server (and by build I mean actually put together components with a screwdriver and screws), but I have no knowledge on how to so this. Google only gives me results about the software but I need all the information I can get on the hardware involved in a server. Thanks for the help, but it has to be a server. I haven't got fast enough upload speeds to use my computer as a server.

Upload speeds depend on your ISP, not the computer.

And any computer can be configured as a server, it doesn't specifically need to have server-specific hardware.

You don't say, I was told that because I don't live in a city I couldn't use my computer as a server because the upload speeds would be too slow.

What type of websites/services will you be hosting and to how many users? If you are going to be developing large database driven web based apps with 100s of users connecting you are going to need some decent hardware under the hood.
