Build update

Ok folks, i posted earlier that i was putting in some new hardware:
Asus p8p67LE 1155 mobo
4gb (2x2gb) Corsair dominator
Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro cpu heatsink
i5 2500k

well, im in the middle of installing drivers but i did have, and still do have some problems annoyingly :/

Firstly, the heatsink is MASSIVE. There are obviously 4 RAM slots next to the CPU in 2 groups of 2. Now, because the heatsink is so HUGE and the corsair dominator is quite tall, i cant actually have a dual configuration. So for the moment i actually just have on stick in so i can fit the damn heatsink in! So ill either have to buy a smaller heatsink or smaller RAM, probably the latter.

When i went to boot after installing everything, there were terrible boot problems. Everytime i went to boot, it would go blue screen of death and restart. I found that the motherboard hadn't even have the SATA2 plugs on the mobo enabled so i tried that but to no avail. In the end, i figured it was because i already had my old mobo's drivers installed and there was a clash. So i re-installed windows (annoyingly) and am sorting out drivers etc.

Tomorrow i will do some cable management, couldn't be asked today, too stressful! I will post some photos in this thread soon. Need to install my blackberry software :/

Anytime you change out the motherboard, you should do a repair install or better yet, a fresh install as the hardware is all different.

Theres defiantley some sort of design flaw in this 1155 architecture. I should be able to have whatever RAM i want with whatever heatsink. If i want to utilize all my slots i would have to go for a smaller heatsink. Very stupid designing. Also, this 1155 board (which im sure if technically very good) has no support screws (the ones it rests on) on the far right hand side, so when your installing SATA cables etc, you have to stick your hand under to stop it from snapping. Well, the build works, but i'm not particularly happy :/

Yeah, there are a lot of board that need more support on the far right side. It's pretty bad when the board flexs when you insert the 24 pin psu connector.

Ah, man, that was painful ><

The other thing i absolutley hate doing is installing the CPU, and the lock on this mobo is sooo tight its untrue, and it made the horrible crunching noise :P

Well, at least it all works. Just got to get some new RAM. Ah the other thing is the heatsink it literally about 10mm from my out-take fan, nasty stuff lol.
